May Member Highlight – Jackson Macrae

We love our jobs and the people we get to work with on a daily basis.  Because of that, we want everyone to know about the amazing people we have in the Evolution Athletics Tribe.  This month we asked the incredible Jackson Macrae to tell us a little about his time with us.

Jackson is one of the founding members of the EAX All-Stars and a football player at West Pine Middle School. He is the embodiment of the All-Stars program. He trains hard, always strives for improvement, and has a ton of fun along the way.

1. Before finding us, what was your struggle or what were your biggest frustrations?

I remember football practice being physically draining. I used to feel really out of shape, and it made me dread any kind of conditioning work.

2. How did your struggle or frustrations affect your life either in or outside of the gym? What did you feel like before you made your transformation?

I used to struggle with everyday things like yard work and lifting heavy boxes. I also found myself winded during pickup basketball.

3. How did our gym/program help you?

From day one, I knew conditioning and running were my biggest weaknesses. I asked Coach Mike for extra work at the end of our sessions, and it has definitely paid off. My football coaches can pick out the kids that train at EAX because they move and lift  “like athletes”. It’s been a goal of mine to play on the defensive line when I get to high school, and the strength and mental toughness I’ve gained from EAX will take me there.

4. How is life different for you now?

I feel more confident in the gym, on the field, and in everyday life. When I line up against someone bigger than me on the football field, I know I’ll have an edge because of the work I’ve put in. I feel like EAX has unlocked my potential.

5. What is your favorite gym memory of your time with us?

Definitely when I joined the 300-pound club on trap bar deadlift. Almost a year later, I can hit that same weight for 4 reps. With the way training has been going lately, I’m really excited to pull a 300 straight bar deadlift.

We couldn’t have said things any better ourselves and we couldn’t be any happier to call Jackson a part of our Tribe since the start. He is the epitome of a hardworking, humble, up and coming football star. We can’t wait to see how next season and the rest of his football career turns out!
