About Coach

Sports have always been a huge part of my life. My dad coached me from the beginning in everything from baseball, basketball, football, and golf - to ping pong, bowling, and pool. We were always active and always competing at something. Both of my parents were athletes at the high school level in multiple sports and my dad was an All-American at the University of Cincinnati as a football player so I was blessed with athletic genes - and also with size at 6'5". Because of that, I was always good enough to make the team and be a pretty good player. It wasn't until I got to college that I started to understand the work that it took to be great at something. From then on, I knew I wanted to coach. I wanted to try and get the absolute best out of people in every area I could. I wanted athletes to understand how to attain the goals they set - that there aren't any shortcuts - it takes what it takes (Nick Saban). CrossFit was no different - it gave me an opportunity to meet people where they were and help them achieve things they may have never imagined. I have such a passion to help people understand what is truly possible and help them get there. I'm so excited to be at a place like EAX that has that same purpose and mission. Whether it's an HS athlete trying to get a scholarship or a 90-year-old grandmother trying to pick up her grandbaby, and everything in between - being able to play a part in that is incredible

Turning Point

Going into my senior year of college I didn't really know what to do with my life so I turned to the only thing I knew I was passionate about - sports. I did a football internship at my high school and helped out with the summer program and practices. That fall on our bye week, I went back on a Friday night to watch a game under the lights. When I walked down on the sideline, one of my receivers saw me, ran down, and jumped on me to give me a huge hug. I remember being in tears because I didn't understand the impact I had on him - and more significantly, the impact he had on me. At that point, I knew I was going to be coaching. Fast forward a few years when, after doing half marathon training, hyper fit, P90x, bodybuilding, circuit training on machines....etc and either getting hurt or bored with ALL of them - my best friend from college recommended CrossFit and started sending me workouts. I started doing the workouts and researching the methodology - then I met my buddy for dinner...the guy who I watched run extra after practice every single day by himself just to try and get into shape had now lost almost 100 pounds and had just been certified as a Level 1 trainer. I was so proud of him for all the hard work I knew he had put in to make that type of lifestyle change and excited about the life he was able to live now. Knowing his story motivates me constantly and drives me to be better, both as a coach and as an athlete.

Motivation & Passion

My passion for coaching comes from a desire to help athletes not only achieve goals but truly reach for things they didn't think were achievable. Playing sports at a high level has had a massive impact on my life - it's developed qualities within my character now that will stay with me forever. I truly believe there is incredible power in sports and I want to help as many athletes as possible not only physically, but also mentally, to have the opportunities they've dreamed about.
